Px Padcal on Its First-Ever Lantern Parade

Philex Padcal has never failed to amaze its employees, residents, and visitors during its yearend festivities. Every year, a FestMan Committee is in-charged of the program. The Padcal's yearend program makes old Philexians come back to Philex, their home.


This year, under the chairmanship of Atty. Ed Aratas, the team thought of launching Padcal's first-ever Lantern Parade. We all have watched the different schools from Baguo City during their annual Lantern Parade and has become a tradition every 1st of December and that Philex can also do it.

"I'm not expecting a grand parade this year, but at least we started", said Atty. Ed. 

The FestManCom is envisioning this year's lantern parade to become a part of our annual culture just like Baguio's most anticipated Lantern Parade.

Lantern Parade is just one of the many activities for this year-end special. The following are this year's list of competitions:

1. Lantern Parade
 
  •  Selected participants from PMESi
  •  Selected participants from SLHS-Px 
  •   Open to Contracts and representatives
  •  Open to Zone/Purok participants
    **Minimum of 20 participants. The more, the merrier!

2. Most Symbolic / Most Decorated Purok

  • Open to all Purok residents

3. Lantern Making Contest

  • Open to Department employees only

4. Belen (Table Top) Contest

  • Open category

Once upon a time, ijaaay Kiangan Village, faaar, far away, there lived a happy sayote. She was loved by everybody in that place called Philex. And she was in everybody's menu ta kwa- naimas. Sayote with extra rice, sayote with corned beef, tortang sayote, sayote caprese salad with pesto sauce, sayote with pasta con pomodoro e basilico, or just the plain boiled uggot ti sayote with bagoong dip. The Shuttle Bus Chronicles: Epic.

Image from Google Here's a flashback of the life of Taraki boy idiiiiiiiii newly hired pay lang suna. Taraki boy, with his complete PPE-- on his way home, was supposed to visit his friend in URT ta they will make a little shot-shot kanu.  **Rides a shuttle bus with a sign: "BANGET". (He was supposed to ride on a "PADCAL" bus tapnu bumaba pay ijaaaay URT, ngem, bagong hire adi-- he did not know.. poor taraki boy...) Because he was shy mango and did not make "PARAAAAA" , Taraki boy ends up waiting for another 45 minutes ijaaaaaaay checkpoint. To avoid kantsaw from his friends when got back up, he just said, "Joy ride adi!". Epic. Fail.

The Magic Sayote

I'm very sure nga if you're from Philex, you know so well about sayote. Sayote from the kayas of Eastern Saddle, Market Area and Kiangan Village faaaar, far away. Ngem to the people outside our world, this sayote we tend to ignore everyday- is very magical and precious to them. So, why do we tend to ignore ngay this so-called "magical" sayote? It is because, it is always there. We see them as ordinary. One piece of sayote is virtually free. Madawat ngay. Ngem to the outside world, one piece would cost about 5 pesos to 10 pesos per piece! Agasem ngay! We only realize their worth when it's gone- or when we don't live ditoy Philex anymore.  It will be like ordering ngay from Lazada-- it ships from abroad. Nabayag piman.
