Px Padcal on Its First-Ever Lantern Parade

Image
Philex Padcal has never failed to amaze its employees, residents, and visitors during its yearend festivities. Every year, a FestMan Committee is in-charged of the program. The Padcal's yearend program makes old Philexians come back to Philex, their home. This year, under the chairmanship of Atty. Ed Aratas, the team thought of launching Padcal's first-ever Lantern Parade. We all have watched the different schools from Baguo City during their annual Lantern Parade and has become a tradition every 1st of December and that Philex can also do it. "I'm not expecting a grand parade this year, but at least we started", said Atty. Ed.  The FestManCom is envisioning this year's lantern parade to become a part of our annual culture just like Baguio's most anticipated Lantern Parade. Lantern Parade is just one of the many activities for this year-end special. The following are this year's list of competitions: 1. Lantern Parade     Sel...

The Shuttle Bus Chronicles: Epic.

Image
Image from Google Here's a flashback of the life of Taraki boy idiiiiiiiii newly hired pay lang suna. Taraki boy, with his complete PPE-- on his way home, was supposed to visit his friend in URT ta they will make a little shot-shot kanu.  **Rides a shuttle bus with a sign: "BANGET". (He was supposed to ride on a "PADCAL" bus tapnu bumaba pay ijaaaay URT, ngem, bagong hire adi-- he did not know.. poor taraki boy...) Because he was shy mango and did not make "PARAAAAA" , Taraki boy ends up waiting for another 45 minutes ijaaaaaaay checkpoint. To avoid kantsaw from his friends when got back up, he just said, "Joy ride adi!". Epic. Fail.

The Uggot That Got Away

Image
Once upon a time, ijaaay Kiangan Village, faaar, far away, there lived a happy sayote. She was loved by everybody in that place called Philex. And she was in everybody's menu ta kwa- naimas. Sayote with extra rice, sayote with corned beef, tortang sayote, sayote caprese salad with pesto sauce, sayote with pasta con pomodoro e basilico, or just the plain boiled uggot ti sayote with bagoong dip. Imas! For years, sayote was a favorite. But, the people ngay became umay with sayote. At first ngay ket, there were a few who didn't let go of preparing sayote for their meals. Say for example, Taraki boy. He was a fan of sayote. Every day, with three meals each, adi pay he had sayote.  When everyone else gave up on eating sayote, it was only Taraki boy who was left. Taraki boy held on tight.. like an uggot that struggled to cling on to the mighty alambre. With closed eyes and an open heart, it clings- even when the sayote didn't taste like the same sayote he loved before. T...

The Magic Sayote

Image
I'm very sure nga if you're from Philex, you know so well about sayote. Sayote from the kayas of Eastern Saddle, Market Area and Kiangan Village faaaar, far away. Ngem to the people outside our world, this sayote we tend to ignore everyday- is very magical and precious to them. So, why do we tend to ignore ngay this so-called "magical" sayote? It is because, it is always there. We see them as ordinary. One piece of sayote is virtually free. Madawat ngay. Ngem to the outside world, one piece would cost about 5 pesos to 10 pesos per piece! Agasem ngay! We only realize their worth when it's gone- or when we don't live ditoy Philex anymore.  It will be like ordering ngay from Lazada-- it ships from abroad. Nabayag piman. Image from Google It's like having kadi a relationship. You don't see the value of your partner because she's always there, same cycle of clothes every week, same make-up everyday, same conversation ken same kwa. You t...

Safe Taraki Boy's "Bucket" List

Image
If you are taga-ijaaay Palawan (not the Palawan where you find pawikans and white beaches), you probably know who she is. If not, you probably would have bought ngay the yummy pancit ken crunchy nga kwa-- lumpia ijay Penthouse. If yes, then you already know her. The number one in our "bucket" list is the "bucket" from Palawan, ni Mrs. Leona Bugtong. She is everybody's Lola, Auntieee, Gayyem and Mother. She is most of the time labelled as "Kuton" (ant) because she talks to everyone she meets ngay along the street. A normal taraki boy would take around 15 minutes to walk from Eastern Saddle to Penthouse. But, the "Bucket from Palawan" will take about 1 1/2 hours to about 2 hours to reach Penthouse from Eastern Saddle. Adi pay kasla kuton ta she would say "hi" or another istorya ijay people nga she meets. She would seem grouchy if you do not know her, but, I assure you, she's the most loving mother any of us can imagine. W...

The Tale of the Safe Taraki Boy

Image
Once upon a time, ijaaaaay Kiangan Village, far, far away, there lived a young, safe, taraki boy. Every morning, when he wakes up, he prays for a safe work day ahead. Being safe meant that he wore his taraki hard hat, sparkling reflectorized vest and taraki rubber boots- before he goes out of his house. Taraki boy never forgets to smile, ta he knows that being kind to others will lift up ngay his co-workers' morale. Taraki boy works diligently. He does not sleep underground uray pay his taraki boss, Sir Kaging is not around. Image from Google Taraki boy looks up and down, left and right, front ken back ta he makes sure nga safe isuna and his kakadwa. That is the tale of the safe taraki boy. He comes home safe ijaaaaaay Kiangan Village, far, far away, plays his old country music and eats pinikpikan with sityot ken etag adi.
